Facial Trauma
Maxillofacial injuries are commonly referred to as facial trauma and encompass any injury to the mouth, face and jaw. The majority of Maxillofacial injuries are caused through sporting injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work-based injuries and domestic violence.
The majority of facial trauma patients are initially reviewed within the public hospital system where both Dr. Hawthorne and Dr. Harris are specialist consultants. They have years of surgical experience in treating complex facial trauma and are both actively involved in teaching these specialised surgical skills to the next generation of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
